Q- Alveoli of lung are lined by unileminar squamous epithelium, while skin have stratified compound epithelium. Why?

Answer- The unileminar squamous epithelium helps in diffusion of gases and the alveoli of lungs is responsible for the exchange or gases in the lung to help in the process of respiration. On the other hand the skin is formed of stratified compound epithelium because skin is the outer most protective layer. Skin has several layers to prevent wear and tear.
