Discuss the structure and function of nucleus

Q- Discuss the structure and functions of nucleus.

Answer- Nucleus is the most important cell organelle as it controls all the activities in the cell. It is responsible for all the metabolic activities inside the cell that is why it is called as director of the cell. Nucleus is maximally centrally located but in plant cell due to large sized vacuole it is located in excentric manner. The main function of nucleus is to store NA (chromosomes) that helps in transfer of genetic characters from parents to offspring.

Nucleus is mainly consisted of four types:

1. Nuclear membrane:

Nuclear membrane is the outer layer of the nucleus.

Function of Nuclear membrane:

The main function of nuclear membrane is to separate fluid present inside the nucleus from cytoplasm of a cell.

2. Neucleoplasm:

Neucleoplasm is the fluid that is present inside the nucleus.

Function of Neucleoplasm:

The main function of Neucleoplasm is to form spindle protein in nucleus and also work as skeleton of nucleus.

3. Neucleolus:

Neucleolus is the fluid that is present inside the nucleus of neucleus.

Function of Neucleolus:

The main function of neucleolus is to form and store r-RNAs in nucleus.

4. Nuclear chromatin (Chromosomes):

Nuclear chromatin (Chromosomes) is the genetic material that is present inside the nucleus of nucleus.

Function of Nuclear chromatin (Chromosomes):

The main function of Nuclear chromatin (Chromosomes) is to transfer the characters from parents to offspring.
