Q- Ramesh was not in class when this chapter was taught. He came the next day and repeated what he had heard from his father. Can you tell Ramesh what is wrong with these statements?

(a) Women always vote the way men tell them to. So what is the point of giving them the right to vote?

(b) Party politics creates tension in society. Elections should be decided by consensus not by competition.

(c) Only graduates should be allowed to stand as candidates for elections.

Answer- (a) Women have full right to vote and they can vote to representative whom they think. No one can tell them to whom they should vote. The right to vote allows women to participate in elections. The effective solution for this above statement would be to assure that women are not dominated by men to vote and have freedom of opinion and voting.

(b) We all know that elections are just like consensus. In it political parties need to be minimized by ensuring internal elections and other reform steps. This step would allow decrease in tension in society that occurs because of party politics.

(c) It is correct that only graduates or educated people can contest election and voters should also be educates and literate to make a correct choice of representative or ruler for them. It can be made possible if efforts should be made to a population where both the voters and candidat6es are literate.
