Q- What are the various types of animal tissues? Mention briefly the location and one main function of each class of tissue.

Answer- Animal tissues are of different types as in animals there are different tissues in different part of animal to perform a different function. But from all of them they are categorized or divided into four types of animal tissue. These four types of animal tissue are as follows:

1. Epithelial tissue

2. Muscular tissue

3. Connective tissue

4. Nervous tissue

Epithelial tissue: The epithelial tissue covers all the organs of the body externally and also lines the hollow organs internally, as it is present in the epidermis of the skin. The epithelial tissue consists of cells which are compactly arranged and also has basement membrane that provides them a placement.

The epithelial tissue is responsible for many purposes or it performs many functions but from all of them the main function of epithelial is that it provides a covering and protective tissue. They also act as barrier between different body organs.

The epithelial tissues are mainly of seven types. These are as follows:

1. Squamous epithelial tissue

2. Cuboidal epithelial tissue

3. Columnar epithelial tissue

4. Ciliated epithelial tissue

5. Glandular epithelial tissue

6. Striated epithelial tissue

7. Transitional epithelial tissue

Muscular or contractile tissue:

The muscular tissues are highly elongated and contractile so are called muscle fibre. The muscle tissues have three very important properties: excitability, conductivity and contractibility.

The muscular tissues are located in the body wall, limbs, tongue, wall of visceral organs and heart.

The Muscular tissue is responsible for many purposes or it performs many functions but from all of them the main function of muscle is that it helps in movement of the body parts, locomotion and conduction food and urine in body.

The muscular tissues are mainly of three types. These are as follows:

1. Striated muscle tissue

2. Non-striated muscle tissue

3. Cardiac muscle tissue

Connective tissue:

The connective tissue helps in providing connection to body or connect the body. The cells of connective tissue are loosely-arranged and are large in size. The connective tissue is located or found between the body organs, tendon, ligament, bones, cartilages, blood as well as lymph.

The Connective tissue is responsible for many purposes or it performs many functions but from all of them the main function of muscle is that it works as binding tissue between the body parts, transport material to all parts of the body and also provides mechanical support.

The connective tissues are mainly of eight types. These are as follows:

1. Areolar connective tissue

2. Adipose connective tissue

3. Cartilage connective tissue

4. Bone

5. Tendon

6. Ligament

7. Blood

8. Lymph

Nervous tissue:

Nervous tissue is a compound tissue. The nervous tissue is spread in form of veins. It is a network of veins to all parts of the body to help in transfer of signals.

The Nervou tissue is responsible for many purposes or it performs many functions but from all of them the main function of nervous tissue is conduction of impules. It is mainly responsible for it as it helps in taking action in different parts of the body.

The Nervous tissues are mainly of three parts. These are as follows:

1. Neurons

2. Neuroglia

3. Ependymal cells
