Q- What is a ‘famine’? Which states in India are affected by famines?

Answer- Famine is a condition in which extreme scarcity of food grains occur. In this condition the food grains quantity decrease and the demand s very high. Due to this the price of food grains increases rapidly. 

There are several parts or states of India which experienced famine.

The most devastating famine that had occurred in India was the Famine of Bengal which was occurred in 1943. More than 30 lakh people were died in this famine due to starvation or food scarcity. Even today there are several states of India which are still experiencing famine situation. Such as Kalahandi and Kashipur in Odisha.
