why are xylem and phloem called complex tissues? how are they different from each other

Q- Why are xylem and phloem called complex tissues? How are they different from each other?

Answer- Xylem and phloem tissues are collectively called as vascular bundle as they are responsible for transportation of food and water in all parts of the plant. Xylem tissue and Phloem tissue are also called as complex tissues because they both are more than on types of cells.

Xylem and phloem are different from many factors. Some main differences between xylem and phloem are as follows:

1. Xylem tissues are responsible for transporting of water and minerals to all other parts of plant whereas Phloem tissues are responsible for transporting food and nutrients to all parts of the plant.

2. Xylem tissues are unidirectional whereas phloem tissues are bidirectional.

3. Xylem tissues consists of Tracheids, vessels, xylem parenchyma and xylem fibre while Phloem tissues are consisted on Sieve tube cells, Companion cells, phloem parenchyma and phloem fibres.

4. Xylem tissues are responsible for upward conduction or flow on the other hand phloem tissues is responsible for downward conduction or flow.
