Q- Give two peculiar properties of cardiac muscle fibres.
Answer- Cardiac muscle fibres are found in the myocardium of the heart. These muscular fibres are similar to striated muscle fibres in being cylindrical with dark as well as light bands. The cardiac muscle fibres show rapid and rhythmic contraction throughout life so are non-fatigue muscles. These help in pumping and distributing blood to various parts of the body.
The two peculiar properties of cardiac muscle fibre are as follows:
1. The ends of cardiac muscle fibres are flat at ends.
2. The ends of cardiac muscle fibres are branched and interconnected by oblique bridges so forming a network.
