Answer- Common land means by the English countryside peasants as it is land which is common and everyone can use it. This common land is used by many people mainly the poor.  The common land was used by peasants for various purposes such as

herding and grazing animals, collecting firewood, collect berries, vegetable and fruits for their livelihood e.t.c. . The common lands is the main source of poor for their livelihood or it is essential for survival of poor.
