Q- Why were Indian cultivators unwilling to grow opium?
Answer:-
· The crops were grown in the better lands available near the villages due to which farmers can easily move to their fields they also select well manure and fertilized lands to grow pulses and if they panted opium in that land then pulses will not grow there
· Many cultivators were landless which mean they do not own any land and have to take lands from landlords in rent for a given time period and best lands having good fertile soil and near the village were rent ant very high costs.
· The cultivation o opium takes difficult processes it takes many hours to work in the fields to grow opium
The price that was given by the government to the farmers foe opium is very low and it will become unprofitable for farmers to grow opium
