Q- State the various poverty alleviation programmes introduced by the government to remove poverty.

Answer:-

· Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana:- it starts in 1993. The aim of Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana is giving self employment to educated unemployed youth who don’t have any assets or money to start a business or industry and also doesn’t have any job to do, Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana works for providing them help to start business.

· Rural Employment Generation Programme:- It was launched in 1993. Rural Employment Generation Programme aim is giving self-employment opportunity to those people who were living in rural areas and small towns they set a target of providing 25lakh jobs.

· The Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana:- The Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) was launched in 1993 under which poor families living in rural areas were organized to self – help groups through the mix of bank credit and government subsidy to take them above the poverty line.

· Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana:- It was launched in 2000 under Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana additional central assistance is given to state for providing services such as clean drinking water for rural areas, giving heath care for rural areas, giving electricity, schools, shelter to people living in rural areas.
