Answer- It is obviously right that a relief feature has a major role to play in determining the climate of a place. But there are some other factors are also responsible for this determination of climate. Mainly there are six main factors that are responsible for it. These are given below:
The six major controls which affects the climate of a particular area are as follows:
1. Latitude
2. Altitude
3. Relief features
4. Ocean currents
5. Distance from the sea.
6. Pressure and Winds.
According to the question the three relevant examples of this statement are as follows:
1. Relief:
High mountains act as a barrier for cold as well as hot winds to enter India. These Himalayas are located at the northernmost part of India. They may also cause precipitation if they lie in the path of rainfall bearing winds. The Leeward side of mountains remains dry, whereas windward sides are able to receive rain.
2. Altitude:
As the person moves at altitude or height so the atmosphere of the Earth becomes less dense so that it causes decreases in temperature of that region. That is why hill stations are cold in summer and people prefer to go there for summer vacations.
3. North Eastern Hills:
The maximum rainfall of the season is received in the north eastern hills. Garo, Khasi and Jaintia hill located Meghalaya traps the South West monsoon clouds and causes world’s highest rainfall on Mawsynram in Meghalaya.
