  1. Precipitation is mostly in the form of snowfall in the upper parts of Himalayas but it rains over the rest of the country.
  2. There are variations not only in the form and the type of precipitation but also in its almost and the seasonal distribution.
  3. The annual precipitation varies from 4500 cm in Meghalaya to less than 10 cm in Ladakh and western Rajasthan.
  4. Most parts of the country receives rainfall from June to September but some parts like the Tamil Nadu coasts gets most of its rains during October and November.
