Q- Give an account of the Northern Plains of India?
Answer- The Northern Plains have been formed from the alluvial soil which is deposited by the rivers that starts from mountains. This alluvial soil of Northern plains is enough fertile to give a rich harvest of crops. This also resulted in the Indus River Valley Civilisation. The soil in this region experience perfect climate and water supply from rivers.
Between mouths of Indus and the Ganga-Brahmaputra, the North Indian plain covers a distance of 3200 Kms. It is about 300 to 150 Km wide at some places. The Northern plains has Indus river system in the west and the Ganga-Brahmaputra river system in the East.
The Northern Plains consists of the following elements:

4. Khadar
