Robert Owen

Robert Owen was born on 14 May of the year 1771 in Montgomeryshire. His father’s name is saddler, ironmonger, who was a local postman. Robert Owen was the sixth child among seven children in his family. Robert Owen was an avid reader from birth. He left his school at the age of ten years.

He also worked in a drapery shop in London as a teenager. After a few years at the age of 18 years, Robert Owen decided to move to Manchester. He spends about twelve to fifteen years of his life in Manchester. In the year 1824, he moved to America. He makes his fortune in an experimental socialistic community there.
