What are the main features of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005?
Answer- National Rural Employment Guarantee Act is a program launched by government which aimed to reduce poverty in India mainly rural areas. It aimed to provide 100 days of wage employment in every household.
This ensures a regular wage in rural areas and promotes sustainable development. The job opportunities which are provided in this scheme have a reservation of women which is about one-third of the total jobs. In this scheme the average wage has increased from Rs. 65 lakh in 2006-07 to Rs. 132 lakh in 2013-14.
