Answer- The zone were meristematic tissue are found is called as meristem. Meristematic tissues are living tissues with thin wall and are responsible for rapid cell division. They did cell division that is why they are responsible for growth of plant or tree. The cells in meristematic tissues are compactly or closely attached so that they do not have intercellular space.
On the basis of position the plant meristem is of three main types. These are as follows:
1. Apical meristem
2. Intercalary meristem
3. Lateral meritem
