· Many cultivators were landless which mean they do not own any land and have to take lands from landlords in rent for a given time period and best lands having good fertile soil and near the village were rent ant very high costs.

· The price that was given by the government to the farmers foe opium is very low and it will become unprofitable for farmers to grow opium

· The cultivation o opium takes difficult processes it takes many hours to work in the fields to grow opium
