Answer- . Xylem tissue is part of vascular bundle. Xylem tissue is consisted mainly of three types of cells: Tracheids, vessels, xylem parenchyma and xylem fibre. It conducts upward movement of water and minerals in plant and tree. The movement of xylem is unidirectional.
The xylem tissue performs many functions in the plant and tree. But the main functions are as follows:
1. Xylem tissue is responsible for upward conduction of water and mineral in plant and tree.
2. The xylem parenchyma of xylem tissue helps in storage and short range conduction of water and mineral to other parts of the body whereas the long range conduction of water and mineral to other parts is done by tracheids and vessels of xylem tissue.
3. Xylem fibre is responsible for providing mechanical support to the plant.
